Eagles and Defenders faced each other at SKBZ cricket ground as part of the 8th Residence Cup match. Defenders batted first and Faraz with 18 and Agha Chow with 32 got them off to a good start. Naveed Nagda also played a good knock of 40 runs but the subsequent batsmen put on a dismal show and only Asad could score 16 runs while none of the other batsmen reached double figures as Eagles bowlers bowled a tight line and length and brought down the run rate. Defenders ended at 133 for 9 in 20 overs. For defenders, Wajji and Faizan took 3 wickets each while Umer Chawla got 2 wickets and Cavish picked up a wicket.
In reply, Eagles got off to a good start as Madni scored 26 runs and Jahangir got 14 runs. Rehan with 29 runs and Zubair with 28 runs furthered the cause and when they were out, Hadi, Umer and Nasar fell in quick succession and the match became exciting but Faizan got 4 unbeaten to get them home in the end with 2 balls to spare and with 2 wickets in hand. Defenders fought valiantly as Faraz took 2 wickets and Sumair and Yousuf got a wicket and some atrocious running by Eagles batsmen resulted in 4 run outs.
Eagles won by 2 wickets.
