Friends 11 went up against Zahid and Sons this past Sunday at Asghar Ali Shah. Batting first, Zahid and Sons were off to a rocky start after losing opener Aaqib Zafar for duck. Things did not get any easier after that as the team lost wickets too frequently to build an innings. Kamran, Sheraz and Naveed tried to keep the scoreboard ticking with knocks of 17, 15 and 23. After they were dismissed however, there was a flurry of wickets before Amjad Ahmed tried to save his side with a fighting 23. Waqas was the key wicket taker for Friends 11 with 3 wickets while Ahsan also took 2. Friends 11 were limited to 111 for 7 in 20 overs.
With a low total to chase, Friends 11 had the confidence stepping but were soon rattled by an impressive display of bowling. After losing opener Zohaib for just 3 runs, the team continued to lose wickets with the exception of Hamza Innayat who was the hero of the day. His match winning knock of 43 runs included 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Zahid's bowlers fought hard to defend their side with Arshad and Naqi picking up 3 wickets each and Nadeem taking 2 wickets. The side were almost bowled out but eventually managed to scrape through Rashid Mirza's 19 run cameo lower down the order in 18 overs.
