An interesting encounter took place between Karachi Patriots and Butt Brothers at Naya Nazimabad cricket ground as part of the 20th Challengers Cup. Butt Brothers won the toss and batted first. Ameer Raza (16) and Owais Pasta (53) had a good partnership of 70 runs on a difficult pitch but after they were out, the middle order batsmen stumbled with only Bilal Omer managing 15 runs and Noman Butt with 16 ensuring that Butt Brothers ended at 138 for 9 in 20 overs. For Patriots, Rafay was the key wicket taker with 3 scalps while Adeel Abbasi and Rizwan Merchant took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Patriots lost openers Tayyab Balagamwala (10) and Faisal Butt (14) early and Amir Motiwala struggled to get 13 runs off 25 deliveries. Adeel Abbasi however put up a good fight and scored 55 runs off just 35 deliveries and set up the course for the chase for Patriots while Shaaz Shajani got 17 runs at the other end. However, in the last few overs, Butt Brothers pulled back the opposition with the subsequent batsmen falling apart. Patriots fell short in the end by 5 runs and ended at 133 for the loss of 6 wickers. For Butt Brothers, Owais Pasta and Rehman Ghani took 2 wickets each while Jaan Zohaib got a wicket.
