It was a comfortable day for EDGE XI as they completely bested their opponents, ZamZama CC at the K.P.I Ground on Sunday, March 3, 2019.
ZamZama opted to bat first and got off to a modest start in the first few overs before the penultimate collapse of their middle order who succumbed to a ferocious attack from the EDGE XI bowlers who left them with no room to breathe even towards their bottom order batsmen who fell in 19.1 overs, albeit having conceded 19 runs in wide balls. The most wickets by a single EDGE XI bowler were 5, by Abbas Ali, whose exemplary performance, having conceded just 24 runs in 4 overs, was a big factor in determining the outcome of the match.
Conversely, EDGE XI’s innings was smooth sailing with Umer Tariq and Amir securing a partnership of 135 runs, having made 58 and 71 runs respectively in just 15.4 overs. The ZamZama bowlers were unable to thwart this partnership at any point in the innings and the pair remained not out to cap off a spectacular performance.
