For all their effort, Abbott could not beat their opponents on Saturday, National Refinery Limited.
Abbott were not off to the best of starts but managed to comeback before facing another hurdle with Syed Aijaz Hussain being retired hurt. Their best performances were put on by Haq Nawaz Khan, Syed Aijaz Hussain and Faizan Pervaiz with each having scored 41, 34 and 20 runs respectively. With the help of a substantial number of extra runs, 26 to be exact, they managed to put up a formidable total of 143 runs. Abbott continued to pick wickets with Abid Habib and Tauseeq Haider taking 2 wickets each.
Despite a good performance by Jamshed Ahmed who claimed 3 wickets, the rest of Abbott's bowling order were not able to replicate. National Refinery played well and played consistently for most of their top and middle order leaving very little pressure on the lower middle order to score and hence granting them comfortable room to finish. Muhammad Nizam's 25, Azam's 21 and Imran's 28 helped their side chase down the target in 16.2 overs.
National Refinery were clearly the better team in this match and showed why a good start to the innings is a surefire way to win a match. They won by 4 wickets.
