A Convincing Victory For Karachi Patriots

15th CHALLENGERS CUP

It was a great fixture when Strikers CC faced Karachi Patriots in the 15th Challengers Cup. Karachi Patriots batted first and faced an early blow with the departure of opening batsman Tayyab Balagamwala. Before further damage, the innings was held together by Ahmed Usama and Faisal Butt who scored 36 and 31 runs respectively. Things were under control for Karachi Patriots until Adeel Abbasi came into bat. Adeel’s superb stroke play took Karachi Patriots from a decent position to a commanding one. Adeel scored 83 runs off just 47 balls. His ball tearing shots made life difficult for the Strikers CC bowling attack. Saad Shah, Saad Sultan and Haris Tanveer took two wickets each. After 20 overs, Karachi Patriots scored 184 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Strikers CC had a huge target to chase and they needed their batsmen to blast from the start. One opener obliged while the rest of the batting order failed miserably. Saad Shah had a superb performance with the bat as he went on to score 76 runs off just 54 balls. He needed some assistance which was not provided, else his innings could have won the game for Strikers CC. Adnan Ghazi was superb with the ball as he picked 3 wickets for 26 runs. Strikers CC could score only 124 runs in 20 overs. Karachi Patriots won the match by 60 runs.
