It was a cracker of a match with both teams fighting till the end, both played their heart out and in a nail biting finish A&I Properties held their nerve to win by 1 wicket of the last ball and their win followed by scenes of jubilation, elation and triumph at one end and on the other end Karachi Patriots were dejected and were left heartbroken as they gave it their all but were unsuccessful in snatching up a win.
Earlier, the thriller started with Karachi Patriots batting first in the first innings. Their start was not the best one as they lost early wickets without much contribution from them. Azam Zubair provided A&I with a perfect start as he picked up 2 wickets in initial overs. After the early trouble, Faisal Butt and Aamir Motiwala got together and steered the innings. They added around 40 runs together and scored 17 and 23 respectively. After their dismissal, Ritchie and Adeel propelled the innings forward with their crucial partnership both added 26 and 18 respectively. And Usman Yunus ended their innings on a positive note as he smashed 3 massive sixes during his quick 28. The bowling was good throughout the innings as they kept picking up crucial wickets at regular intervals. After Azam’s initial burst, Fahadis and Ahmed also picked up 2 wickets to keep the score down to 141.
The score was chase able but the pressure of chasing in a big game got onto A&I Properties and they had a bad start losing their openers without much on the board. Aashir and Fahadis then got together and settled some tensed nerves with their crucial partnership. They added more than 80 runs together, Aashir added 40 and Fahadis scored 44 of 33 balls. After dismissing them, Karachi Patriots came back strongly in the game and picked quick early wickets. This opened a door for them. Adnan, Rizwan and Sameer picked up 2 wickets each to give their side a chance. The match entered in an exciting phase when Azam Zubair was runout and the last man Israr Ahmed came in and much to the delight of his teammates he smashed the only ball he faced for a four to give his side a tense victory. A&I managed to win this close encounter of the final ball.
