Athletic Vs AKYSB (Women’s Cricket Tournament)
A volcanic half century from Sana Taj saw her side cruise to victory by 60 runs against a hopeless AKYSB.
Sana Taj’s rollicking, ballistic and simply stunning effort demolished AKYSB as she single handedly won her team the game. It was unbelievable power hitting, she swung her bat to a powerful match winning innings and was adjudged woman of the match for her herculean effort.
In this new and much awaited tournament, under the floodlights, the tournament kicked off in style. Athletic team batted first and it was a start of a carnage from their openers specifically Sana Taj whose blistering knock of 51 left the bowlers gasping and fielders hopeless. Every ball that she faced brought smiles to her team members face. She plundered bowlers before they could settle in, from the very start she was on fire. This innings was even more special considering the fact that she did not get much support from her batting partners. She remained not out till the end and with her 51 of 17 balls, Athletic managed to score a gigantic 91 in just 5 overs.
In the second innings AKYSB wanted a special effort to get over the line but just like the first innings Athletic dominated the second part of the match as well. From the very start the bowlers bowled at the right channel and did not allow the batswomen to take any control of the match. Such was the dominance of Athletic bowlers that only one player, Mehwish got into double figures. They were far away from the target and were outplayed in all three departments by Athletic. Fatima was the pick of the bowler as she picked up 2 wickets for just 7 runs. In the end, Athletic defended their total with ease and restricted AKYSB for just 31 runs.
