Dolphins CC went up against Benitoz Panthers in the Trend Micro 29th Challengers Corporate Cup in a match that turned into a Daniyal Liaquat show.
Dolphins CC came out to bat first, getting off to a decent start. Opener Rehan Tanoli and No. 3 batsman, Akhtar Muhammad, strung together a firm partnership before Daniyal Liaquat sent them both back to the pavilion. The Dolphins CC middle order contributed well, but Hamza Qadir made sure the run flow did not get out of hand with his three crucial strikes. At the loss of eight wickets, Dolphins CC posted 182, which seemed like a tough ask at the end of the first innings.
Daniyal Liaquat, however, made a meal of this steep chase. He carried forward his prime batting form into this tournament, smashing a sublime century. His 113 runs from 65 deliveries consisted of 13 fours and 6 sixes. Hamza Qadir at No. 3 partnered with him, producing 67 from 38 at a strike rate of over 175. Liaquat and Qadir remained not out as Benitoz Panthers chased down a demanding total inside 18.2 overs with a loss of just one wicket.
Liaquat's domineering display with both bat and ball allowed Benitoz Panthers to seal the match by 9 wickets.
