Eagles Cricket Club Vs Karachi Hawks (6th Residence Cup)

The match that went to the last over was eventually won by Eagles Cricket Club by 8 runs at SKBZ.

Eagles Cricket Club batted first and were off to a rocky start as they lost Jaleel for a duck. After that Kaashan joined Hassan and both batted with a purpose to bring their team back in the game, both timed the ball well and supported each other during their stay. Kaashan was the aggressor in the partnership as he scored 29 ball 54 whereas Hassan struggled a bit during his stay but managed to give support to Kaashan as he scored 32 of 39. Once the partnership was broken and both the set batsmen were sent back to the pavilion, it was up to the lower middle order to take their side to a competitive total. And that is exactly what the lower order did as the innings was ended on a positive note on the back of quick cameos from Saas, Madni and Zubair and with this effort Eagles managed to score a decent first innings score of 172.

The pressure of chasing a high score got on the Hawks batsmen early in their innings as they were left in deep trouble after the loss of 2 early wickets. Hawks were struggling and Eagles on the other hand kept the pressure on and did not give them any space to dictate terms. A stable innings was required as Hawks were in deep trouble and Zain did that as he calmed things around and made his impact in the game with his fine knock of 39 under difficult situation. Though he kept losing wickets at the other end but he held one end to keep the hopes alive for Hawks. Zain was finally joined by Saqlain who managed to up the run rate with his blistering knock of 43 of 22, Saqlain's innings was crucial as Hawks needed someone to up the gear. But it was brilliance in the field that lead to downfall of Saqlain and it was up to Asad Khan to take his side over the line, he threatened Eagles for a while but was eventually dismissed for 16 as Hawks felt short just by 8 runs.
