Faizan Powers Spartans To Victory In Final

The stage was all set for the final clash of the 6th Super Challengers Cup as the Saeed Akhter Cricket Club met Karachi Spartans.

Saeed Akhter Cricket Club started strongly with the bat in the first innings. Opener Shahzaib Dyer played a fluent innings of 48 from 29 balls, unfortunately falling just 2 short of his half century. The middle order supported the opening effort well with several batsmen contributing with quick fire 20+ scores. The Spartans’ bowlers kept the run flow in check throughout the innings by striking regularly. Zafar Shah and Ali Iqbal collectively knocked over 7 wickets, preventing the scoring rate from getting out of hand. After a fine battle between bat and ball, Saeed Akhter managed to post 175 on the board with 9 wickets down.

In response, the Karachi Spartans’ opening batsmen launched a phenomenal onslaught. Muhammad Faizan hit the bowlers all over the park for a glaring 103 runs from 49 deliveries. Striking at over 210, his innings produced 12 fours and 4 sixes. The bowling side tested out eight different bowlers in their attempt to curtail Faizan’s power hitting, to no avail. Ismail Shah also gave the bowlers a run for their money as he scored 42 from 28. Saeed Akhter bowlers managed to pick a few wickets towards the end, by which time the match was already well in Spartans’ control. Faizan remained not out, guiding his team to complete a steep chase in just 15.5 overs.

Karachi Spartans cruised to victory in the final match of the tournament by 7 wickets.
