KARACHI FIGHTERS vs FC SPORTS
(FC CHALLENGERS CUP MATCH)
A very close match was played between FC Sports and Karachi Fighters in the Ramzan Challengers FC Cup. Batting first, FC Sports had a decent start. Both openers played well initially but were unable to convert their start into a bigger score. Ali Meher scored 16 while Ibrahim Sheikh managed to score 11 runs. Shuja Ali took the responsibility of holding together the innings with his calm and composed knock of 30 runs. He lacked support from the other end but as the lower middle order gave away their wickets too soon. Shuja’s efforts were acknowledged by Faheem Rauf who scored 34 runs off 24 balls and with some support from the tail, he made his side post a competitive total. Zeeshan Ahmen picked up 2 wickets, but the pick of the bowlers was Hassan Ur Rahman who gave only 7 runs for his 1 wicket .FC Sports scored 150 runs for the loss of 7 wickets after 20 overs.
Karachi Fighters started their chase in a decent manner. Both openers had a good start but they could not stay long enough on the crease to get bigger scores. After the fall of the openers few more quick wickets put Karachi Fighters in a difficult condition. That was the time when Naseer Khan and Ikhtyar Shah produced a gem of a partnership. Despite of timely breakthroughs by Anus Badar, Shahid Mukhtar, Shuja Ali and Ovais Badar, it felt that this partnership will do the job for Karachi Fighters. But after Naseer Khan lost his wicket, Ikhtyar Shah was left alone as he lacked support from the other end and this cost Karachi Fighters the match. Karachi Fighters came very close to victory but fell just 3 runs short and this thrilling match was won by FC Sports.
