Haseen Habib Vs Gaziani Sports (Southend premier Leage)
A great game of attritional cricket on a pitch with a bit of life in it saw Haseen Habib prevail over Gaziani Sports at Southend.
In a low scoring fixture both teams battled out for a win but in the end Haseen Habib were successful in defending a modest score of 146 on the back of economical bowling performance from their bowlers.
Earlier, Haseen Habib batted first and were off to a slow start as early loss of Akram pushed them on the back foot. The innings was in a rebuilding phase as Aftab Ahmed and Fawad Bari battled hard not to lose anymore wicket as both battled out for their survival in the middle. But both were dismissed soon and Haseen Habib were in a spot of bother. Nadeem Akhter and Jawad Bari then got together and built a much needed partnership for their side, both were looking in fine touch and were timing the ball sweetly. Nadeem Akhter played so well for his 35 of just 22 before he was runout whereas Jawad Bari scored 27 of 19. The innings was ended in a great style by Dr.Babar who played a brilliant cameo of 26 of just 16 and took his side to a modest 146. The pick of the bowlers were Salman and Irfan who picked up 1 wicket each and were economical.
The target was not a huge one but Gaziani Sports were pushed on the back foot right from the start as Fawad Bari of Haseen Habib removed the top order quite early in the innings, this meant that Gaziani Sports were shaking and were in deep trouble. The innings was going nowhere as Rafiq Gaziani was struggling to score and only managed to score 15 of 27 during his stay. Wali then tried to rescue the sinking ship with his fine fifty, he was the only one from Gaziani Sports who threatened the bowlers as he scored 51 of just 33 but his lone effort was not enough for Gaziani Sports as they fell short by just 11 runs and were restricted to 135 in their 20 overs.
