Inspired Shakoor Guides Suparco to Title Win

Suparco Vs Engro (3rd Challengers Corporate Cup Super LeagueFinal)

A pumped up, driven and ambitious Suparco side won the Challengers Corporate Cup Final by 27 runs leaving Engro heart broken.

It was a mouthwatering clash between two of the best teams of the tournament and the best was expected in the final as both giants locked horns to fight for the cup. The day began with tense nerves and ended in booming cheers celebrating the victory as Suparco lifted the trophy Suparco Supporters were loud and enthusiastic as Abdul Shakoor dazzled with the bat and laid the foundations for his team’s emphatic victory.

Suparco batted first. Having being 2 down early in the innings, the team found themselves in a tense situation. Abdul Shakoor then walked out to the middle at number 3 and owned the situation. He smashed 5 vicious sixes during his supreme knock against the hapless Engro bowlers showing no pressure with an incredible match winning knock of 72 runs off just 45 balls to shift the momentum back in his team's favor. Abdul Basit did further damage to Engro's bowlers with a crucial innings late down the order. His ferocious assault of 24 runs which came of just 10 balls put Suparco on top going in the second innings. Imran Iqbal and Ali Mirza fought back with the ball, taking a combined 5 wickets but were unable to stop the flow of runs. In the end Suparco posted a target of 176 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Engro began their innings in a reasonable fashion, it was in their knowledge that they have a daunting task ahead as chasing a score in excess of 150 against a quality bowling lineup in a precarious final is never easy. But the openers were fighting as Sameer and Irteza built a solid little partnership, they were not provided with many opportunities to score big but they kept the scoreboard ticking. After the partnership was broken, Ali Hyder carried the work forward with his innings of 36 but the bowling was so tight from Suparco that even the settled batsmen were finding it hard to score quick and this lead to a collapse as Iqbal, Wahab and Rashid shared 2 wickets each to give their side a victory and it was followed by celebratory scenes as Suparco deservedly clinched the title by 27 runs.
