Karachi Patriots locked horns with Team Falcons in this interesting fixture of the 6th Residence Cup. Karachi Patriots batted first and were off to a steady start as both openers found the fence quite often. Tayyab Balagamwala scored 24 runs in same number of balls while assisting his partner Faisal Butt to score freely. Faisal played a top class innings as he scored 79 runs off 59 balls. Usama and Aamir Motiwala contributed briefly and heled their team post a huge total. Huzaifa took 2 wickets for 32 runs as Karachi Patriots finished their innings with 163 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Team Falcons needed a mix of control and aggressiveness in order to chase the total. But two dismal performances in the top order created difficulties for the bating lineup. Mehmood and Waqar scored 28 and 23 runs and set a platform for the lower middle order to score aggressively. Waqar Hafeez and Shahzad Kanwal gathered 24 and 34 runs respectively and created a few hopes for their team. But a superb display of owling by Rizwan merchant and Sameer Ahmedani superseded the batting performances as they picked up 3 wickets each. Team Falcons scored 145 runs before getting all out in the second last over. Karachi Patriots won the match by 18 runs.
