KPT beat Dollar East by 6 wickets

KPT vs DOLLAR EAST EXCHANGE COMPANY (20 OVER MATCH)

Karachi Port Trust locked horns with a star studded Dollar East Exchange Company line up and it was a treat for the lovers of the game. Both the teams have been around the circuit for some time and it was expected that this fixture will be a display of great competitive cricket.

It was a nostalgic moment as the former Pakistan opening pair comprising Salman Butt and Kamran Akmal, made its way to the pitch. The pair which holds the record for highest opening partnership in a T20i for Pakistan, struggled to show similar action. Kamran Akmal was run out at the score of 12 and the ex-test skipper Salman Butt lost his wicket when he was batting on 17. Khurrum Shehzad and the promising Imam ul Haq failed to stay on the crease, and this increased the problems for Dollar East. But a sublime effort from Jahandad Khan put them back on track. With the help of 3 sixes and 5 fours, Jahandad scored 58 runs off 36 deliveries. No other batsman could assist him sufficiently and Dollar East were all out in 19.1 overs at the score of 131. Usman Javed picked up 3 wickets for 28 runs. Other bowlers chipped in as well and supported Usman in the mission to stop Dollar East from posting a big score. Yasir Hussain took 2 wickets while Adnan Kaleem, Faraz Patel and Ahmed Iqbal took 1 wicket each.

KPT had a shaky start as they lost Anas Mehmood at the score of 5. But before this wicket could cause any damage, Nadeen Javaid and Shah Ali Zafar produced one gem of a partnership.  Nadeen scored 43 off just 20 balls and put his side in a strong position. Shah Ali Zafar scored 24 off 20 balls before he fell prey to Salman Butt who also rolled his arm in this game. Naved Khan held the innings together with his sensible batting and allowed Usman Javed to play extravagantly. Usman made 34 runs off just 20 balls, assuring victory for his team. Mohammed Zubair was the best bowler from the Dollar East. He took 1 wicket and gave only 18 runs but his effort was not enough to stop KPT from chasing the target in the 17th over.

KPT won the game by 6 wickets.
