In the opening match of the 2nd Dollar East Day Tournament played at Asghar Ali Shah Stadium, Medicam came up against Soni Associates.
Medicam batted first and got off to a shaky start as Arsalan got out cheaply for 1. This brought Jahangir and Shahzar together and both batted sensibly before launching a vicious attack on the bowling. Jahangir in particular treated the bowling with disdain scoring 84 off 56, an innings that included 9 fours and 2 sixes. He was well supported by Shahzar who got out for 44. A late cameo by Waseem ensured Medicam set a target of 161 for Soni to chase. Musharaf was the pick of the bowlers for Soni as his 1 for 19 in 4 overs resricted further damage.
In reply, Soni kept losing wickets at regular intervals as Yaqoob and Qamar both picked up three wickets each to never really allow Soni batsmen to come within sight of the target. The Soni batsmen crumbled under pressure and only 5 of them made it to double figures. Khurrams 24 off 17 not out provided some respectability to the chase but it was a little too late as he ran out of partners.
Eventually Soni limped to a 103, losing all their wickets in 17.3 overs and Medicam won the match comfortably by 58 runs.
