Karachi Patriots batted first and were off to a brilliant start. Faisal Butt and Adnan Salim both were in dangerous mood, not letting any bowler settle and they dictated their own terms during their stay. Faisal scored 46 of 35 balls whereas Adnan scored 39 of 27 balls. The opening partnership laid a perfect foundation for the rest of the batting order and Usman Yunus Ghani took advantage of the platform when he came in. He smashed every bowler and at every part of the ground. He dealt in sixes as he struck 7 sixes in his fiery innings of 70 which came of just 30 balls. Usman was the star of the batting innings for Karachi Patriots and he batted with a mammoth strike rate of 233. After him Adeel and Ritchie ended the innings on a high for Karachi Patriots with their little cameos. In the end Patriots scored a huge 207 in their first innings.
In response, Starwood Properties started in positive fashion but when chasing a huge target, you need to keep the momentum going for most part of the innings. The openers, Fahad and Maaz gave a good beginning with their partnership of over 40. The innings was carried forward by Maaez Waqar as he scored 56 of 35 with 3 sixes but these were the only contributions in Starwood innings. No one other than them could contribute heavily and that was due to super bowling spells from Adnan and Adeel both of them picked up 4 wickets each. Their bowling partnership did not allow Starwood to get in control and in the end, they managed to restrict them to just 140 and they won easily by 67 runs.
