Karachi Patriots faced Dawson Stars at IBA University cricket ground as part of the 16th Challengers cup. Dawson Stars won the toss and fielded first. Patriots had a good opening partnership between Faraz Ahmed (34) and Tayyab R Balagamwala (17). The team lost wickets in regular intervals but contributed runs effectively to keep the scoreboard ticking. Faisal butt got 20 and Adeel Abbasi top scored for his side with 39 runs as patriots ended at 189 for 7 in 20 overs. Dawson bowlers were wayward as they conceded 30 extras. Usman Shah got 3 wickets while M Ali got 2 and Shahid and Waqar got a wicket each .
In reply, Dawson stars lost some quick wickets at the top but Fahadis with 23 and M Ali with 18 led the recovery. Dawood with 29 and Shahid with 21 also contributed but it was Mubeen Polka who played a brilliant knock of 55 off just 30 balls. Dawson came close but ended at 185 for 7 in 20 overs as Patriots won this exciting encounter by just 4 runs. For Patriots, Adeel Abbasi got 2 wickets while Adnan Ghazi, Sameer, Richie and Rizwan Merchant got a wicket each .
Patriots won by 4 runs.
