Stallions prevail in tight finish

Eagles Cricket Club Vs Karachi Stallions (6th Residence Cup Semi Final)

A low scoring fixture saw Karachi Stallions home just in the last over with only 3 wickets remaining against Eagles.

Eagles Cricket Club batted first and were off to a shaky start as the openers could not stay for long and were slow in the beginning. Kaashan, the number 3 batsman came in and struck the ball nicely. He was in good touch as he scored 40 of just 30 balls with one six. He was supported by Saad Ahmed who scored 25 of 14 with 2 sixes. They gave momentum to the innings with their partnership but once the partnership was ended no one else could take advantage of the stage set by these two as the lower order from Eagles were kept quiet by Stallions bowlers. Saad Dawood was the most impressive bowler as he picked up 3 wickets. In the end they managed to score 148.

The score was a modest one for Stallions to chase but the pressure of chasing got to them initially as they lost 3 quick wickets and were going nowhere with the chase. Abdul Samad Ghani kept his calm and rescued his side from a deep hole with the help of Saad Dawood, who after his fine bowling performance scored 24 crucial runs with the bat. Samad scored 59 with two majestic sixes and was the highest scorer from the Stallions innings. This partnership put Stallions back into the game but as soon as the pair was dismissed, Eagles came back strongly on the back of Rehan's 2 quick wickets which gave them a rare opportunity to win but it was not enough as Stallions chased down the target in 19.3 overs.
