ZMCC Vs Vanthali A XI (15th Challengers Cup)
A valiant effort from Nemat Khan went in vain as Vanthali A XI held their nerve to clinch victory by 2 overs against ZMCC.
ZMCC batted first and were off to a wobbly start losing their first wicket quite early in the game. It was then the partnership between Sohail and Danish which brought them back in the contest. They played sensibly after and early loss and took their team out of the troubles with their nice partnership. Sohail scored 37 and Danish made 28 before they were dismissed. The wickets of settled batsmen in quick succession again put ZMCC on the back foot therefore Afzal and Shoaib needed to make another partnership. They did that but the partnership was not the quickest one as they were not allowed to hit many out of the park by good bowling from Vanthali. In the end they got to just 119. Naveed with 2 wickets and 14 runs in his 4 overs was the most impressive bowler.
The target was not the biggest one and it was just under 5 runs an over for Vanthali to chase but ZMCC came strongly at them and Nemat Khan lead the way as he bowled magnificently to put Vanthali in trouble. Even with a small target Nemat did not lose hope and he kept on fighting and picked up 4 top order wickets for just 21 runs. On the other hand, Kamil Mehmood of Vanthali was fighting alone as he made sure that his team remains in the hunt with his very valuable contribution of 52. Kamil fought hard and ensured that he will keep on going. Once he was dismissed ZMCC felt again that they can overpower Vanthali but the late order batsman Tabish held his nerve to get his side over the line with his crucial knock of 14. In the end the match was won by Vanthali in the last over with 2 wickets in hand.
